Naivas Supermarket is Kenya’s largest supermarket chain, founded on 27 July 1990 and headquartered at Sameer Industrial Park, Nairobi. As a proudly homegrown, majority family-owned business, Naivas has grown from a single outlet to over 106 branches across Kenya as of 2024 — ahead of all competitors including Quickmart which has 51 outlets.
The chain employs over 8,000 people and recorded gross sales of approximately US$860 million in 2022. Naivas was a pioneer in establishing Kenya’s first Foodmarket concept and continues to lead in retail innovation through advanced inventory management, e-commerce via naivas.online, and a customer loyalty programme. The chain is chaired by Simon Gashwe Mukuha and managed by David Kimani Mukuha as Managing Director.
