Profit before tax rose to Sh17.54 billion. Total assets increased to about Sh149.3 billion, while shareholders’ equity climbed to roughly Sh119.3 billion. Borrowings fell sharply to Sh442.86 million after accelerated debt repayments.

What Drove the Performance

The company attributed the growth mainly to higher petroleum throughput and improved cash collections. Total domestic and export volumes rose 7% during the year. KPC transported 10.61 million cubic metres of product, with Uganda accounting for 27% of total throughput and Kenya for 49%.

Transport revenue, which remains the core of the business, reached Sh41.82 billion. Acting Managing Director Pius Mwendwa said the results reflected better operational efficiency, product availability, and stronger cash generation from the pipeline network despite volatile global petroleum prices.

Cash generated from operations rose 34% to Sh17.39 billion. Year-end cash and cash equivalents jumped 84.4% to Sh20.54 billion, giving the company more flexibility for capital projects.

Dividend and Capital Allocation

The proposed Sh5.9 billion dividend represents roughly half of after-tax earnings. Management has indicated that retained cash will support expansion plans aimed at protecting regional market share, including development of a commercial oil hub at the former Kenya Petroleum Refineries Limited (KPRL) facilities in Mombasa.

The company is also looking at longer-term pipeline extensions toward Kampala and Kigali, and diversification into areas such as LPG, LNG, biofuels and trading. It has set a target of lifting annual revenue toward Sh68 billion by 2030.

First Full Year as a Listed Company

KPC listed on the NSE in March 2026 after the government sold a 65% stake through an oversubscribed initial public offering. The listing was the first major privatisation on the exchange in nearly two decades and placed the company among the larger firms by market capitalisation.

These results therefore give public shareholders their first clear view of full-year performance under the new ownership structure. The proposed dividend offers an immediate cash return while the company continues to invest in infrastructure and regional capacity.

Whether the dividend is ultimately approved at the stated level will depend on shareholder approval and the company’s final assessment of funding needs for the expansion projects already under consideration. For now, the numbers show a business that generated higher profit, substantially stronger cash, and reduced debt in its first complete year on the exchange.
