Absa has named marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge as the Official Financial Partner of his World Tour, formalising support for his plan to run a marathon on all seven continents.

The partnership was unveiled in Nairobi in October 2026, days after Kipchoge won the Melbourne Marathon in a course-record 2:09:10. That victory was his first marathon win since Berlin in 2023 and marked the third leg of the tour.

What the Partnership Covers

Under the arrangement, Absa will support Kipchoge’s “Eliud’s Running World” campaign. The tour is designed to promote running globally while raising funds for the Eliud Kipchoge Foundation, which focuses on education, environmental sustainability and health.

Absa says the partnership will include customer experiences, leadership conversations, digital storytelling, wellness initiatives and community programmes. The bank intends to use the association to connect with individuals, entrepreneurs and businesses across its Pan-African markets.

Kipchoge, a long-time Absa customer, has described the relationship as one built on mutual trust. Absa has framed the collaboration around its existing “Your Story Matters” brand platform, which emphasises perseverance and personal ambition.

Kipchoge’s Seven-Continent Tour

The 41-year-old is aiming to complete a marathon on every continent over two years. Melbourne was the third stop, following races in South Africa (Cape Town) and Brazil. He still plans to race in Antarctica as part of the series.

Each race is linked to fundraising for his foundation. The Melbourne win gave the campaign a strong early result and provided Absa with a high-profile moment to announce the formal partnership.

Absa’s Existing Athletics Involvement

The deal builds on Absa’s longer involvement in Kenyan athletics. The bank has been a consistent sponsor of events such as the Absa Kip Keino Classic and the Sirikwa Classic Cross Country, and has previously worked with the Eliud Kipchoge Foundation on financial literacy and wellness programmes for athletes.

Financial terms of the World Tour partnership were not disclosed. Absa operates in Kenya as part of Absa Group, which has a presence across 12 African countries.

The partnership gives Absa direct association with one of Africa’s most recognised sports figures at a time when banks are competing for customer attention through lifestyle and purpose-driven campaigns. For Kipchoge, it provides structured support for the remaining legs of a tour that still includes some of the more logistically demanding continents.
