📋 About KUTRRH
Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital (KUTRRH) was founded in 2011 and officially opened its doors in October 2019 as one of Kenya’s newest and most technologically advanced national referral hospitals. The hospital sits on a 100-acre piece of land in the northwestern part of Kenyatta University, bordering Kahawa Barracks to the north and the Northern Bypass road to the east, with its main entrance along the Northern Bypass, near Kahawa West, Nairobi. KUTRRH also serves as the primary teaching hospital for Kenyatta University’s medical students, alongside its own Training Institute for Specialised Nursing (TISN).
As a Level 6 National Referral Hospital with a 650-bed capacity, KUTRRH offers a wide range of specialised, patient-centred healthcare, with flagship services including Oncology-Cancer care, Trauma & Orthopaedics, and Renal services. The hospital houses the International Medical Imaging Centre (IMIC), a unique facility for early cancer diagnosis and treatment monitoring, featuring the first cyclotron in sub-Saharan Africa. KUTRRH also offers telemedicine, enabling doctors to consult with peers worldwide in real time and reducing the need for patients to seek treatment abroad, and operates a helipad on-site to enhance emergency patient access. The Training Institute for Specialised Nursing offers Kenya Registered Higher Diploma programmes in Critical Care, Oncology Perioperative, and Nephrology Nursing.

⭐ Reviews & Ratings
KUTRRH is widely respected for its world-class equipment, especially cancer diagnostics through the IMIC centre, and its role in reducing the need for Kenyans to seek specialist treatment abroad. As a newer public referral hospital, patient reviews on independent review platforms remain limited, so we encourage patients and families to add the first verified reviews below.
“I was referred to KUTRRH’s IMIC centre for early cancer diagnosis and the process was thorough and reassuring. Being able to access this level of nuclear imaging technology in Kenya, without travelling abroad, made a huge difference for my family financially and emotionally.”
“As a referring doctor, I appreciate how smooth the referral process is via the toll-free line. KUTRRH’s specialist consultants respond quickly and the coordination between our facility and theirs has always been professional.”
“Training as a Critical Care Nursing student at KUTRRH’s TISN has exposed me to some of the most advanced equipment in the region. The lecturers are experienced practitioners and the campus facilities are genuinely world-class.”
